Law Enforcement

In the heat of a dispute or incident, it is understandable that the last thing police officers are considering is whether the person under investigation is hearing impaired or not.

Hearing loss is invisible. The command “open up, this is the police” may not be adequate for an inhabitant that has a hearing impairment. Similarly if the person that is hearing impaired is confronted on the street by police in a possible domestic dispute and cannot hear the commands from law enforcement, should they be arrested if they react questionably? All factors in the incident must be considered so that the innocent is protected, whether it be law enforcement or the person under investigation.

Dr. Traynor is experienced with these types of cases and are here to provide expert assistance.
